STRIVING FOR ADOLESCENT MENTAL WELLNESS - Resource Page

With a new grant from the California Endowment's Local Initiatives Fund, the AHWG has been able to begin work on HEADS UP! Striving for Adolescent Behavioral Wellness, a project aimed at addressing the pressing issue of youth and their mental well-being. HEADS UP! has been developed to make sure that San Francisco teens with situational, early and or previously unrecognized or under-treated behavioral and emotional health risks/problems are appropriately screened, assessed and cared for by school, hospital and community-based health care providers so that San Francisco teens are as healthy, thriving and fully functional as possible.

On this page, you can access and download HEADS UP! minutes from past meetings and other materials and documents relevant to the project or other AHWG behavioral health related work.

SAFETY FIRST: PREVENTING YOUTH SUICIDE IN SAN FRANCISCO

On May 13, 2003 over 100 participants attended a community meeting about the intervention, referral, and protocol options providers have when they are dealing with suicidal youth in San Francisco. At the meeting, more than 30 representatives of San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services, hospitals, school district, police, local behavioral health plans, and city youth service agencies discussed their roles and interactions with each other.
